PETRA EXPRESS : 03 Days / 02 Nights

Day 1:  Amman Airport - Amman
Meet and assist at Amman Airport.  Transfer to hotel for overnight.

Day 2:  Amman - Petra
Begin the day in the Rose Red city of Petra.  Petra is a UNESCO world heritage site and was recently voted one of the New 7 Wonders of the World.  It is the legacy of the Nabataeans an industrious Arab people who settled in southern Jordan more than 2000 years ago. With a guide, enter the site by navigating the narrow kilometer long Siq, or canyon. The walls of the Siq are bursting with color from deep pink to purple to ocher. The path abruptly ends at an opening that reveals Petra’s most famous monument - the Treasury - carved into shear rock and towering over 40 meters high. Explore many of the over 800 individual monuments including buildings, tombs, baths, funerary halls, temples, arched gateways, and colonnaded streets, that were carved from the kaleidoscopic sandstone by the inhabitants centuries ago. Continue on a self-guided hike to the Monastery or the High Place of Sacrifice.  The Monastery can be reached after a steep climb of 800 steps.  This impressive structure is the largest of the rock-cut facades and so large that the door itself is bigger than a house.   The High Place of Sacrifice thought to be the holiest site of the Nabataeans and is one of the most thrilling walks in Petra. Climb up the steep steps of the ancient route with its wide views over the monuments of the Petra basin.  Pass beautifully carved tombs and monuments and marvel at the work involved in creating this ancient site.

Day 3:  Petra - Amman Airport
On this day and according to your flight details, we will transfer you to the airport in Amman for final departure.

You will be transferred to Petra from the early Morning . Petra was the capital of the Nabataean Kingdom from the fourth century BC to the 2nd century AD. From the 12th century until its rediscovery in 1812, Petra was lost to the world -- a closely guarded secret of the local tribes. Today the 'rose red city half as old as time' is probably the most impressive archaeological site in the Middle East, rivaling the temples and pyramids of Egypt in grandeur.

This morning, on our way into the hidden valley of Petra, we will see the Obelisk Tomb and the irrigation system that carried water from a dam throughout the desert city. Access to the monuments of Petra is through a narrow gorge in the towering rocks called the 'Siq'. As we emerge from the 'Siq' you stand in awe in front of the 'Treasury' (El Kazneh), a graceful structure carved from the living rock. After pausing to admire the elegant columns and carvings we carry on into the valley where elaborate tombs are carved into the multi-coloured walls. Everywhere the sandstone swirls and twists in shades of red, orange, yellow, pink and white. Next we will see the Roman amphitheatre, carved directly out of the mountain, with space for over 3,000 spectators.

Further on in the main valley of Petra, are the Royal Tombs including the Palace Tomb and the Silk Tomb. We visit the temple of the Nabataeans' main god, Dushara, and we also see the 'Temple of the Winged Lion'. Our formal guided tour of the site terminates with a visit to the Petra Nabataean Museum.

At this point, you may explore further on your own, or return to our hotel to relax and / or shop. You may also take a strenuous walk up a narrow pass to see the magnificent 'Monastery' building, El Deir. The views of Petra and the surrounding area are expansive. Petra One Day Tour from Eilat / Aqaba Port / Aqaba Airport

You will be assisted and met by our representatives at Arava Border / Aqaba Port / Aqaba Airport and collected and picked up , transferred to Petra , It takes 2 Hours approximately driving to Petra .

Start the visit with a horse ride from the main gate of Petra to the entrance of the old city. The ancient city of Petra was built from 800 BC to 100 AD by Nabetean Arabs. In this era Petra was a fortress, carved out of craggy rocks in an area which was virtually inaccessible. In the first and second century, after the Romans took over, the city reached the peak of its fame. Petra covers an area of about 100 square km where over 800 monuments can be found. When shipping slowly displaced caravan routes, the city's importance gradually dwindled; it fell into disuse and was lost to the world until 1812, when it was re-discovered by the Swiss explorer Johann Ludwig Burckhardt. Today Petra is Jordan's number one tourist attraction, known as the "rose-red city half as old as time". The Khazneh (the Treasury) even starred in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. The sights to be visited are the Treasury, Street of Facades, Einshou Tomb, Theatre, Royal Tombs , Church and the Monastery .

After that you will be transferred to the point of departure.

In many respects Madaba is a typical East Bank town which differs in one major aspect: underneath almost every house lies a fine Byzantine mosaic. Many of these mosaics have been excavated and are on display in the town's museum, but it is estimated that many more lie hidden waiting to be discovered. Other mosaic masterpieces found in the church of the Virgin and the Apostles and the Archaeological Museum, depict a rampant profusion of flowers and plants, birds and fish, animals and exotic beasts, as well as scenes from mythology and everyday pursuits of hunting, fishing and farming. Literally, hundreds of other mosaics from the 5th through the 7th centuries are scattered throughout Madaba's churches and homes.

Mount Nepo , is an elevated ridge that is approximately 817 meters (2680 feet) above sea level, in what is now western Jordan. The view from the summit provides a panorama of the Holy Land and, to the north, a more limited one of the valley of the River Jordan. The West Bank city of Jericho is usually visible from the summit, as is Jerusalem on a very clear day.
According to the final chapter of Deuteronomy, Mount Nebo is where the Hebrew prophet Moses was given a view of the promised land that God was giving to the Israelites. "And Moses went up from the plains of Moab to Mount Nebo, the top of Pisgah, which is opposite Jericho."
Drive along the same route prophet Moses was forbidden to travel on by the King of Edom (Numbers 20), and picture yourself standing where Moses was laid to rest, and where the late Pope John Paul II tread on his first pilgrimage of the millennium.
Visit the Sanctuary at Nebo: the memorial of Moses , the presumed site of his death and burial place, and a center for pilgrimages since earliest Christian times. You'll be inspired by the biblical feel from start to finish as you experience this divine tour.

Surrounded by imposing mountains and approached through a deep, narrow cleft in the rocks, known as the Siq, it is a unique and unforgettable place and, enhanced by the play of light and shadow, an altogether overwhelming experience. Approaching on horseback (optional), we then enter the Siq on foot, following its towering sandstone walls towards the site of the captivating and iconic splendour of the beautiful Khazneh (The famous Treasury). A guided orientation tour will take us to some of the key parts of this remarkable and ancient site, one of the most impressive and exciting anywhere in the world. We’ll take in the Colonnaded Street and the Royal Tombs, enjoy the site of its amazing theatre, with its 8,000 seats carved from the solid rock and the sheer wonder and beauty of this amazing ancient city carved from the rock and coloured naturally by minerals within the stone.

Over night in Petra

Day 4 : Petra

Today is left free for further exploration of the ancient city of Petra. You may wish to possibly climb the steep track up to the magnificent sacrificial ‘High Places’ (altars) for a stunning view over Wadi Araba and the Negev Desert or you may wish to walk to the Monastery, the largest of Petra’s monuments and certainly a highlight to any visit to the city. Towering to a height of 40m its doorway alone measures 8m in height, dwarfing anyone framed within it and it is certainly worth the steep climb up to it. It is a place to lose oneself in the atmosphere of the past and from here there are numerous hikes you can take to the other viewpoints, before returning in your own time back to the hotel. And, after a full day’s sightseeing, what better way to relax this evening than with a traditional Ottoman Bath (optional).

Day 5  :  Wadi Rum

An early start this morning gives you the option to take to the “ship of the desert” for our final journey through Wadi Rum. Alternative is to walk alongside these Camels. Travelling as the Bedouin and Lawrence himself would have done on Camels (optional).

It is like entering another world, inhabited by the nomadic Bedouin peoples for generations and soaked in the legend of Lawrence of Arabia, the rolling dunes and red rock formations make Wadi Rum like no other landscape around. We take 4WD vehicles to our Bedouin camp for the night. As dusk settles we are dwarfed by the surrounding mountains and the sheer magnitude of the desert sky and gain a small understanding of why Lawrence of Arabia felt Wadi Rum was a place of humbling and yet inspiring experiences. Overnight Basic Camping (C) Included meals: Breakfast, Dinner .

Day 6 : Wadi Rum - Amman .

Transfer to Amman for a city tour where you will have enough time to explore it with a city tour , enjoying shopping as well in the old souq

Shore Excursions Petra , Wadi Rum from Aqaba Port : One Port

shore excursion Aqaba to Petra , Wadi Rum Tour and Dead Sea

We offer shore excursion from Aqaba Port, which is situated in southern Jordan on the north shore of the Gulf of Aqaba. It accommodates ships, handling a wide variety of cargos, including dry bulk vessels of 75,000 DWT, and container vessels of Panamax size. The port also has a separate passenger terminal, which services cruise and passenger ships. The Aqaba port has the capacity to handle up to 23 ships of different sizes and types, in addition to 8 ships in anchorage.

The Gulf of Aqaba is famous for its marine wildlife. It is the north-eastern arm of the Red Sea, measuring a length of 180km and expanding to a width of 25km, with a shoreline shared with Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and Israel.

An average water temperature of 23° Celsius, the absence of stormy weather and mild water currents have created a hospitable environment for the growth of corals. Favorable salinity levels are perfect for the myriads of other marine life-forms. As a result, it is home to 110 species of soft corals and 120 species of hard corals. The reefs that fringe the Gulf host over 1000 species of fish, corals, crustaceans, and mammals living in its waters. Nocturnal animals such as the crab, shrimp, and lobster appear in search of food in the dark hours of the night. Seasonal visitors to the Gulf of Aqaba include sea turtles, dolphins, sea cows, and harmless whale sharks.

Aqaba is the only coastal city in Jordan. This beautiful town, surrounded by fascinating colorful mountains and the blue waters of the Red Sea, expands through over 27km of shoreline. The town is well-organized and under continuous development. It has been designated as a Special Economic Zone, with special legislation to protect and improve its business, community, tourism and environmental status.
