Jordan Borders & Airports

Jordan Borders (BORDER CROSSINGS) :

Visitors with a valid passport may obtain a visa at any Jordanian embassy, consulate, or legation abroad. You can also obtain a visa upon arrival at Amman’s Queen Alia International Airport or at any other border crossing (except the King Hussein Bridge (Allenby Bridge) and the ferryboat from Egypt). Visa fees are 40 JDs ($56) for single entry valid for one month but easily extended at the nearest police station, or 120 JDs ($170) for multiple entries, valid for six months and non-extendable, to be paid in local currency. Few formalities need to be observed when departing Jordan: A departure tax of 8 JDs ($13) is paid at any border crossings except the airports.

From Israel:

There are three border crossings between Jordan and Israel:

1-The Allenby/King Hussein Bridge, 57km away from Amman, is located in the southern Jordan Valley and is open Sun–Thurs 08:00hrs – 20:00hrs for arrivals and 8:00 to 14:00 for departures, and Fri-Sat 08:00hrs – 13:00hrs.

PLEASE NOTE:

Prior visas must be arranged and cannot be obtained at the border. Private cars and tour buses cannot cross – travellers must change vehicles upon crossing or use the other two border crossings.

2-Sheikh Hussein crossing /North Border is 90km away from Amman. It is located in the north, close to Lake Tiberias (Sea of Galilee), these are open Sunday - Thursday: 08:00hrs - 22:00hrs and Friday - Saturday: 09:00hrs - 20:00hrs.

At this crossing, visas for most nationalities can be obtained at the border; prior permits are not needed except for restricted nationalities

3-Wadi Araba Crossing/South Border(Eilat Border), located in the south, 324km away from Amman, connecting the two Red Sea resorts of Eilat and Aqaba. These are open Sun–Thurs 06:30hrs – 20:00hrs and Fri – Sat 0800hrs – 20:00hrs.

Kindly note that starting 1st of January 2016, entry visas will no longer be issued at the Wadi Araba Border Crossing. The only exceptions are Israeli tour groups and others carrying proper entry documentation entering Jordan for tourism purposes. Moreover, Israeli tourists and those carrying proper entry documents, who have bought the 90JOD entrance ticket to the Petra Archeological Site, will be exempt from the obligatory 24 hour stay in Jordan under the conditions that:

They should submit manifest lists and travel documents pertaining to the tour group to the Tourism and Marketing Directorate of the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority at a minimum of 24 hour prior to the group’s arrival to the country, so that visas and clearances can be issued smoothly in accordance with laws and procedures.

Local tour operators should submit necessary insurances that guarantees that all members of the touristic group will leave through the Wadi Araba Border Crossing and not through any order point of departure.

All member of the original submitted manifest are present upon departure; permissions for departure will not be granted to groups in which members included on the original manifest are not present.

No visa will be issued for any other nationality through the Wadi Araba Crossing and entrance will only be granted to those who have obtained an entry visa to Jordan through Jordanian Embassies abroad prior to their arrival at the border crossing.
